About Smart People – not only a magazine!Smart People was developed in collaboration with 60 some volunteers – many coming from the leading social networks – whose contributions shaped the content and direction of the magazine. It’s an interactive, new media approach to publishing, learning and communication that has just begun and you will participate in the development of something much bigger than a magazine.

Bringing knowledge to life

Interacting with ‘prosumers’New media is not new media if it doesn’t enable its ‘prosumers’- those who want to have a hand in developing the product – to be at the design table. Smart People magazine depended on prosumer input from the start and continues with feedback channels on many of the major social networks. We’re looking for critique, story leads, source contacts, writers. We’re even considering using a wiki, much as Wikipedia does, and inviting subscribers and the public to revise the latest issue based on what they think was good or not so good – editing, revising, cutting and replacing articles with what our prosumers would seen as see as even better content.

Collaborating for communitySmart People Magazine is the first component of a Smart People Community we will create in collaboration with ‘prosumers’ – people who want to have a hand in producing it. We have some great ideas and we are fleshing out these ideas with prospective partners. We look forward to engaging you as well. The Smart People Forum is one idea already in place and we are pretty excited about a plan for webinars and talk radio. But what has us really psyched is the prospect of a virtual reality Conference Center where you can enter a virtual building, walk into a virtual room, chat with other attendees, take a seat and engage with one or more speakers. It’s almost like being there, but it’s less costly than a f2f event. And then there’s the Learning Code courses that will help you retain what you learn about knowledging in our workshops and seminars. Knowledge work and innovation go hand in hand, and with you we will innovate together. Soon! |

| “It’s a great new magazine and I’d like to congratulate Jerry and his team on all their hard work.” – David Gurteen, KM Guru, Gurteen Knowledge, U.K.
“The Magazine looks great. I loved the “Death of A Salesman” for the quote: “It’s not that the current techniques no longer work, it’s just that the audience they were designed for, no longer exists”!” – Victor Newman, Visiting Prof. in Knowledge & Innovation Management, Univ. of Greenwich, U.K. |
“I was able to download the first mag….WOW…a lot of content there, great – known – contributors. I can’t wait to read it! I love the concept behind the Smart People Magazine model, and will be working to get the word out.” – Tom Godfrey, Knowledge Services Director, Retail Teamwork, FL, U.S. |
